Community Engagement
Inspiring Place bring 30 years of commitment to open dialogue with the community, stakeholders and clients to every project we work on. We know that engagement benefits any public endeavour.
In an accepting environment, participation fuels passion and expands the options that might be considered. In a contentious environment, the free and frequent exchange of ideas and information allows all views to be considered and often eases discord.
We know each project is different. That is why we don’t subscribe to a fixed process about how consultation should be done. We customise our response for every project, using the best tools to address the issue at hand. There are some consistencies between projects. We believe, for instance, that consultation should start on day one. We don’t tell people “this is what we are doing to you”. We start by asking them what they value about their place, what are the key issues and what are their aspirations for it? Then we make sure we test any concepts with them, providing opportunities to add to ideas or alternative responses.
In the end, people can be sure they have had the opportunity to participate, to understand the rationale for any concepts and recommendations, and what the benefits may be.
